Blended Clay
Our new blended clay keepcups and vessels are crafted from clay trimmings that are created after making bowls and cups. This clay has been blended just enough to hold together well, but allow the strata of the different clays to reveal themselves.
No vessel is alike, each have their own unique patterns and colours. The black clay trimmings definitely create a deep chocolate tone to the blends. We find it trickier to use, the recycled clay with the strata running through it, is more likely to have lumps and bumps in it resulting in a rather perfectly imperfect aesthetic when we throw it on the wheel.
Spending time honing the surface celebrates these variations. They are vessels that take longer to make than other simple glazed forms, but we think it’s worth it.
